BACK TO PRACTITIONERS

Currently Sophie works as a Specialist Systemic Psychotherapist in the NHS at the Tavistock Clinic, a mental health organisation in North London, working with families where a member of the family has social communication difficulties. She is a trained supervisor, consultant and visiting lecturer at the Tavistock.

Sophie is trained in Autism Assessments (ADOS and 3DI) and can help families prepare for these assessments if they are considering an autism diagnosis for a family member. She has experience of working with Gender Identity at the National Gender Identity Development Service at the Tavistock.

Sophie also works in private practice on both a long and a short term basis with individuals, couples and whole families.

Sophie draws on the evidence base from research that concludes that whatever a therapist’s theoretical position, it is the quality of the relationship between therapist and clients that creates possibilities for change.  She takes a person centred, collaborative and flexible approach, offering a safe confidential and supportive reflective space in which to feel heard and validated.

With over 20 years experience in Social Work and 5 years Systemic Psychotherapy experience Sophie has a broad understanding of a wide range of life issues that impact on mental wellbeing. She specialises in working with clients living with identity problems including, autism and gender identity. Her experience is of benefit to those who have felt marginalised, experienced bullying or feeling different, leading to symptoms of anxiety, depression and low self esteem.
