Katia is an experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist who works with couples and individuals facing a wide range of relational and emotional challenges. With many years of clinical practice, she served as a senior visiting clinician and personal tutor for trainees at Tavistock Relationships in London, a renowned international centre for couple therapy training and research.
Her work focuses on helping couples and individuals who are struggling with issues such as trust breakdowns, loss of intimacy, poor communication, jealousy, infidelity, parental difficulties, illness, ageing, low moods, and self-esteem. Katia brings deep clinical insight, warmth, and sensitivity to her sessions, creating a space where clients can feel heard and supported.
In addition to her work at Tavistock Relationships, Katia runs a private practice and is an associate at The Practice in East Molesey, Surrey, offering both in-person and online therapy in English and Italian.
Approach and Specialisms
Katia holds a Master’s degree in Individual and Couple Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and trained at Tavistock Relationships, where she also specialised in Mentalisation-Based Treatment for Couples Therapy (MBT-CT). This form of therapy is particularly helpful for couples whose arguments escalate quickly and feel emotionally overwhelming.
She is also trained in a specialist intervention for couples considering separation or divorce, helping them reflect on the roots of their relational difficulties and navigate this challenging life stage with greater clarity and compassion.
Her psychodynamic approach invites clients to explore not only their conscious experiences, but also the unconscious patterns that shape thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Her work is rooted in the belief that past experiences—particularly from early relationships—significantly influence present-day relational patterns.
Working collaboratively, Katia supports clients in gaining insight into themselves and their relationships, enabling more authentic connection and personal growth.
Therapeutic Values
Katia is committed to working with individuals and couples from all backgrounds, cultures, and sexual orientations. She provides a non-judgemental, inclusive, and confidential space where clients can express their concerns freely. Her work is grounded in compassion, empathy, and a deep respect for the unique experiences of each client.
Katia is a member of TRAPC (Tavistock Relationships Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors) and the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
