Katia Castiglione
MA, BSc (Hons) in Psychology, Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy for Individuals and Couples - Tavistock Relationships, London.
Katia is a fully qualified and experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist who works with couples and individuals. Katia trained at Tavistock Relationships, which since its foundation in 1948, has been a leading internationally recognised institution for couple counselling and psychotherapy and she has an MA (distinction) in Couple & Individual psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy. Katia is a visiting clinician at Tavistock Relationships as well seeing clients at The Practice. She is also a visiting speaker at St. Mary’s University.
Katia’s approach is psychodynamic and aims to bring the unconscious mind into consciousness, making you aware of patterns in your feelings and behaviour and providing insight into your current self. She aims to help people from all backgrounds and walks of life and of all sexual orientations to express their concerns and emotions without feeling judged. Every difficulty is respected and valued for the insight it provides into more profound issues.
Katia is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and she adheres to their professional code and ethical guidelines. She also holds a full clear DBS.
Katia is currently further developing her specialism in Mentalisation-Based Treatment for Couple Therapy. Mentalisation is the capacity to make sense of our actions and feelings and those of others. This specific training, known as MBT- CT, is a form of psychotherapy for those who find that their arguments can get very stormy and heated. It can also be a therapeutic intervention for couples where one or both partners find themselves withdrawing from the relationship in sometimes cold and rejecting ways. MBT for couple therapy can help couples to understand their emotional responses better by focusing on the partner’s feelings as well as their own.
If necessary, Katia can offer a brief phone or zoom consultation free of charge. This will allow you to briefly discuss your situation and ask any questions you might have before committing to therapy.
