Counselling can help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, increasing your self-esteem and confidence, thus allowing you to live the life you want. As your therapist John will aim to facilitate and encourage you to trust yourself, make your own decisions and find your own solutions.
He offers a caring, safe and confidential space both indoors and outdoors for supportive self-exploration.
John graduated from Roehampton University with a Masters in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. He has a background working in The Arts, with Animals and the Outdoors.
John works relationally from a Person Centred framework and can integrate Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at different stages, which means he uses complimentary theories to support your work together and believes the relationship, is most important. The work is always collaborative.
John's experience includes working with young adults and adults on a short and long term basis, experiencing those suffering from work related stresses, relationship difficulties, eating disorders, trauma, substance abuse, anxiety and depression. He currently works at a bereavement service and has undertaken specialist training in this field.
John has also worked as a school and college counsellor, counselling children and teenagers struggling with issues ranging from bullying, parent separation, sexuality, identity, self-harm and exam stress. He completed safeguarding and child protection training and has a current DBS.
John is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abides by their code of ethics. He is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office and follows GDPR legislation.
Additionally, John is trained as an Equine Assisted Therapist and Coach and a member of the British Mountaineering Council.
John charges £70 for a 50 minute session.
