MBACP - BA (Hons) Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist
Andrea is a Psychotherapist with a degree in integrative-relational counselling and CBT Training. She has worked in the NHS where she provided therapy for individual clients suffering with anxiety, depression, low mood, guilt, shame, loss, abuse, low self-esteem and relationship issues.
Currently, Andrea is training and working in couples counselling at Relate as part of her ongoing professional development. In conjunction with this however, she continues to independently run and develop her private practice.
Before qualifying as a psychotherapist Andrea's experiences lay in the sporting world. She played tennis competitively and went on to become a tennis coach. She also trained as a stunt woman and competed for Great Britain in Mixed Martial arts. Andrea owed and ran a full time professional martial arts academy.
For Andrea, counselling is all about building a trustworthy relationship with her clients. This allows the client to open up through talking and get the most out of their session. She strives to create sessions that are held in a safe, professional and non-judgemental environment.
Andrea's role is to listen and deepen her client's experience in the room by allowing them to come to realisations about their lives and relationships; not just in the counselling room, but outside the room too.
So often, what happens in the counselling room reflects what is happening to a client in their everyday relationships. Andrea sees her job as enabling clients to see the correlation between our discussions and their everyday lives.
Everyone’s life experience is unique and she ensures that every session reflects on that.
Andrea has experience working with: anxiety, depression, low mood, guilt, shame, loss, abuse, low self-esteem, stress, trauma, relationship issues, anger management, eating disorder, suicidal thoughts, self harm,
