Katia is a highly experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist who works mainly with couples and individuals experiencing difficulties in intimate partner relationships.
Katia is a senior visiting clinician and a tutor for trainees at Tavistock Relationships in London. She is also a visiting speaker at St. Mary’s University in Twickenham. At Tavistock Relationships, Katia supports people experiencing difficulties such as breakdown in trust and communication, loss of sexual intimacy, anger, low moods, low self-esteem, jealousy, infidelity, parental issues especially around children with special needs, and ageing.
As well as working as a visiting clinician in London, Katia sees patients privately and is also an associate at The Practice in East Molesey where she offers in-person and online sessions in English and Italian.
Katia holds a Masters in Individual and Couple Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. She trained at Tavistock Relationships, a leading international training and research organization for couple counselling and psychotherapy and specialised in Mentalisation-Based Treatment for Couples Therapy, a form of psychotherapy tailored for those who find that their arguments can get very stormy and heated.
In addition to that, Katia has also trained in a specific modality to help couples who are thinking about divorcing or separating. Through this kind of intervention Katia is committed to guiding her clients through this difficult time, helping them have a clearer idea about how they got to this stage in life and how to best move forward.
Katia’s approach is psychodynamic which aims to help clients examine not just what is happening consciously but also taps into the unconscious mind, making clients aware of patterns in their feelings and behaviour and providing insight into the current self. Katia works collaboratively with her clients to understand their unique needs. Katia aims to help people from all backgrounds and walks of life and of all sexual orientations to express their concerns in a safe and confidential space. In addition to her experience, Katia brings compassion, kindness and empathy to her work, and is committed to providing a non-judgemental and supportive space, where the client is met with sensibility and acceptance.
Katia is a member of TRAPC (Tavistock Relationships Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors) and the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
