Cheryl is a professionally trained Psychotherapist and Counsellor, working with adults and young people from age 16.
She understands that entering therapy can feel daunting and strives to create an experience which is both rewarding and empowering. Recognising that many things may lead us to seek help including ongoing struggles, specific issues or feeling “stuck”, Cheryl works with a variety of issues including; relationship difficulties/dynamics, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, abuse and the mind body connection with chronic health issues and work related problems.
Whatever your reasons for accessing therapy Cheryl seeks to develop a strong therapeutic relationship and offers a non-judgemental nurturing space to help you discover and understand what is happening for you. Often, we develop unhelpful behaviour patterns; for example, with food, alcohol or withdrawing to cope with our difficulties, as we heal, we have less need for these props. Her approach is both exploratory and practical. Cheryl’s Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling training brings together a variety of approaches and strategies to facilitate change and growth. Specifically, drawing on psychodynamic, cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness, and attachment-based ideas. The greater clarity and self-awareness gained will help you more easily navigate life’s challenges and enhance mental health.
Alongside private practice Cheryl has worked providing low-cost therapy to clients from all walks of life and worked as a therapist providing counselling for women with complex issues. She held various positions in the corporate world and therefore appreciates the challenges this can bring. She spent several years in the education sector, mentoring and supporting young people (16+). Through this work she gained insight into the mental health and academic challenges facing young students.
Cheryl would be happy to chat for 15-20 minutes to determine whether she is what you are looking for to help you on your journey. In addition, she can also provide a free assessment session if you are finding it difficult to know where to start.
