BS (hons) Psychology, PgDip Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy with Children and Adolescents, MBACP

Welcome! It’s not easy to find a therapist that you can trust and that can help you tackle the difficulties you are facing.  It’s very important for you to feel welcomed at first, because it’s not easy to open your heart to someone you don’t know. Emel offers a confidential, warm, empathetic and non-judgemental psycho-dynamic approach while addressing a broad range of mental health issues, personal and relationship difficulties. When you first come to see Emel, she will discuss your unique needs and your individual requirements and then will provide you with a space and support to deepen your understanding of yourself in your journey which is going to help you to reconnect with your true-self and with your social environment. She has worked with a wide range of adults and children with different backgrounds.

Emel is specially trained in working with children and adolescents having qualified through Birkbeck, University of London and now offer counselling for children and parents. She worked with children as a school counsellor so is experienced with autism, ADHD, eating disorders and behaviour issues.  She is very passionate to support parents/carers of loved ones who suffer with these difficult issues. When children are suffering with difficulties, often the parents don’t look after themselves or they don’t have time to look after themselves. In her experience, self-care, including therapy helps us to reconnect, improves our consciousness and enables us to support our loved ones in a better way. Therefore we learn to connect to ourselves and with our family.

Emel worked as a Counsellor for the Refuge Therapy Centre in London for over 3 years where she worked with trauma and post-trauma stress related issues in men. Additionally, she facilitated and supported a refugee women’s group in long term therapy with psychosomatic issues and trauma.
