Ben is an experienced humanistic practitioner with over a decade's experience of working in both the private and public sector. He works in a client-centred way, tailoring the therapy to the individual's unique needs.
Often our problems and sadnesses stem from not being heard or acknowledged, or feeling judged. We end up behaving as we feel we 'should' rather than listening to our own deeper needs and emotions. This creates a discrepancy between our 'genuine' selves and the self which we display to the world at large. Therapy provides a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore this tension and to find a way to being more genuine and in touch with one's true self and path in life.
Ben originally trained as a teacher, working with students with learning disabilities and emotional problems. He also has experience of training other counselling professionals and has practised meditation/mindfulness techniques for over 20 years, which he finds very useful in his counselling work too.
Ben works on both a long and short term basis with adults with a wide range of issues including loss, depression, anxiety and relationship difficulties. He can offer both individual therapy and couples therapy.
Ben charges £60 per session (some reduced fees available on request)
